Program

Within its 6th edition, Piano Extravaganza Festival will present seven piano recitals, two chamber music evenings, one jazz concert, an “Open doors day” and one documentary on some of today’s best pianists. We hope that our extraordinary artists and the variety of the repertoire for those 10 concerts would satisfy even the most sophisticated connoisseur. We would be delighted to welcome you at the wonderful venues of the Central Military Club, the National Art Gallery and “Bulgaria” Hall in Sofia!

September 24, 2016, 19.30 h. at the Central Military Club: “In the music world of Igor Stravinsky” – Recital of the Piano Duet Fiametta Tarli (Italy) and Ivo Varbanov (Bulgaria).

September 25, 2016, 19.30 h. at the Central Military Club: Chamber music concert of Michael Vaiman, violin (Israel/Germany) and Dina Yoffe, piano (Israel/Germany).

September 26, 2016, 18.30 h. at Cinema Odeon: Bulgarian premiere of the documentary “The Street of the Pianists” about Marta Argerich, Sergio Tiempo, Corin Lechner, directed by Mariano Nante.

September 27, 2016, 19.30 h. at the Central Military Club: “Laureats Concert” – Piano recital of Stefan Bonev (Bulgaria) and Georgi Boykin (Bulgaria), prize-winners of the “P. Vladigerov” International Competition in 2015.

September 28, 2016, 19.30 h. at the Central Military Club: “Romantic masterpieces for four hands” – Recital of the Piano Duet Sergio Marchegiani (Italy) and Marco Schiavo (Italy).

September 30, 2016, 19.30 h. at the Central Military Club: Piano recital of Nadejda Vlaeva (Bulgaria).

October 1, 2016, 19.30 h. at the Central Military Club: Chamber music concert of Trio Bacarisse (Spain) – Laura Rodríguez, violin, Juan Pedro Torres del Rio, cello and Gabriel Escudero, piano.

October 2, 2016, from 11.00 to 19.00 h. at the Central Military Club: “Open doors day” – free entrance for children and adults, with a program of piano classes, talks about music, piano and education. As well, the unique opportunity for all music lovers to have a close look at the new Concert Grand YAMAHA CFX Piano and to enjoy performances of young talented pianists. The event is supported by “Virtuoso Piano Society”.

October 4, 2016, 19.30 h. at the National Art Gallery: “Jazz before Jazz” – with Mario Stantchev, piano (Bulgaria/France) and Lionel Martin, saxophone (France).

October 5, 2016, 19.30 h. at the National Art Gallery: Special Guest of the Festival – Piano recital of Piotr Paleczny (Poland).

November 23, 2016, 19.30 h. at “Bulgaria” Hall: Piano Extravaganza presents the First Prize Winner of the XVII International Piano Competition “F. Chopin” in Warsaw – Piano recital of Seong-Jin Cho (South Korea).
